We’ve been servicing the African mobile market for over eight years since launching Buzz! in 2006, and we’ve recently invested in a mobile app startup that uses mobile operators’ cell tower data to report and predict road traffic in dense urban centres.
And the future keeps looking brighter. Speaking at Gigaom’s prestigious Structure Data Conference in NYC last March, our CEO Amr Shady predicted that the African market holds a future of hybrid start-ups in the big data space. ‘You’ll see startups clustering around popular technologies and services including mobile money and SMS,’ he said.
